Blah, the girlfriend decided to go and buy a copy of WoW off of eBay. I'm not that keen on the idea personally, but whatever makes her happy.

Anyway, she bought it without even checking if her laptop can handle it. I know alot of you guys play it so can you have a quick scan over this and tell me if she'll be able to...

Kinda sucks if it won't work, but to be honest, I'll be happy. Shes on her laptop too much as it is without giving her a game like this to swallow more of her time.

Red Is The New Black, biznitches!

Do you know what video card it has? Depending on that, wow will probably work much to your dismay.

Hmm, not sure on how to check what video card she has on it. Had a wander around in Device Manager but wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for

Go to Start > Run > DXDIAG - Check the Display tab and see what's under there.

Yup.. the graphics will hold her back, especially in lagging areas, such as Ironforge.

2gb helps a lot to eliminate the lag, but the vidcard will also play a role. Though she can play with the graphics set at minimum detail.

The frame rates will suck but it'll be playable to some extent. If she ever sees it on a gaming PC she'll probably never try it on her notebook again fwiw.

Well, it appears to be working. Rather perfectly, actually. Isn't lagging at all and the FPS is smooth.

Now to see if my 360 pad and headset will work with it lol

Yeah, I've seen WoW installed on a variety of laptops. It always seem to run, some running it a tad better than others.

360 pad?

lol, its alot easier to play using a keyboard and mouse. But I guess for someone that hasnt played at all, a 360 pad wouldnt matter.

After lots of hardware tweaks and little upgrades here and there, I've finally gotten my system to play WoW @ 1280x1024, 2x AA, with full screen glow and all that.. No lag in major cities, or in-flight, etc.

AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ @ 2.3Ghz
Asus A7N8X
1GB Geil DDR-400 PC-3200 (stock)
ATI Radeon 9600XT (stock)

Sure it's not the best (or worst), but it's a great budget setup. Probably could be built for around 200-250 bucks at this point, lol.
