Some reason I really like it. The pvp is awesome, the quests are great. But then again Im only level 9. I have 2 guys that are level 9 lol. I probably like it alot because my gf plays it with me.

Difference is, WoW has evolved from RvR to having two youthful leaders lead them to a truce to face even a greater challenge: the Scourge and the Burning Legion. As you level up, you first secure the areas around your strongholds from troggs, werewolves, rebels, religious fanatics, etc. before you are deemed ready to face the main opposition. Though the truce is tenuous and the Alli and Horde haven't forgotten their grudges and still fight for strategic territories.

Warhammer is still in the phase where anything that moves must die and any village must be turned into a fort/stronghold else it'll fall. It's too simple of a plot and once you get bored of that theme, I bet the producers will add more PvE stuff (anything challenging with rare rewards outside of RvR scenarios... or at least something you can brag about). I haven't tried it yet, but the idea of sieging keeps for loot bags is fine and dandy, but how long will the excitement last? The tome of knowledge is exciting to some, but it's meh to me. It's worse than 360 acheivements... they give you a reward for some dumb stuff. Dying to the enemy, clicking on yourself, doing damage while naked, etc. There's so many titles that they're worthless. I don't even show titles on anything except for what I have targeted.

I played 40 hours of WAR and I'm like, where the hell is everyone? The higher tiers are barren and being alone on a battlefield is not fun. Being a healer and being chased by enemy players you can't kill (but can't kill you either) all the way to your nearest allied town is very annoying especially when they are slowing your movement by -50%. Half the people you meet online are annoying jerks - elitists that yell at you if you don't meet their expectations and the back-seat commanders that yell at everyone for failing, yet they aren't significantly better than the worst player, probably since they are sitting like spoiled kids in the back refusing to "waste effort" to try and win.

WAR focuses on PvP, but it's not truly better than WoW except for the bolster system and being able to progress from PvP alone. RvR scenarios are simply BGs. There's still a degree of rock, paper, scissors. Fighting in groups is always favorable over solo/1v1 battles, same in both games. What sets it apart is that it's fresh and everyone needs to learn how to counter each other. The races and classes on both sides are relatively the same with minor differences. As far as PvP class balance is concerned, it changes a bit at each level when you get new skills. You can't judge at level 10 that you'd still be owning stuff up every level from then up to 40.

I don't quite see the competitiveness in the game that will keep it alive in the long run. It's made to reward you no matter if you're good or not and everything is overly simplified. Quest steps are highlighted on the map... you don't even need to read any quest dialog or judge if a quest is worth doing. If you progressed from mainly PvP, you'll be lost for a while if you want to get back into questing as the areas nearby are too low level. I suspect that the higher levels are barren because people keep giving up and trying new servers and race/class combos and sticking to the noobie T1 scenarios where they can bully low levels.

A waste of money overall. People will learn that actual war is not fun - it's frustrating and tiring. Lots of dumb stuff happens for no good reason other than it's war. I'm now playing all the games I bought but never beat like UT3 (just recently finished the single player campaign) and Hellgate London. I'm done with both WoW and WAR, at least until WotLK. Hellgate London isn't running so smooth on my laptop which surprises me.

If you want to experience more realistic war, check out Eve Online. There's been a huge war between the Band of Brothers and Red Alliance for close to a year now. 2 factions created by the player base which massive amounts of resources invested. Band of Brothers have taken down Titan class warships which are the most expensive warships in the universe and that is a crippling blow to the opposition. They have much better piloting experience and people have joined them in fear or have allied themselves with their enemies in fear. Red Alliance was small and BoB paid them no attention, but they've grown relentlessly to finally become so big that BoB can't ignore them. BoB took out their main/founding group, the Red Swarm, but the Red Alliance still lives today.

It seems the elitists that didn't get along with others in WoW seemed to have flocked to WAR. Most others you see don't make it past level 10 and were just curious.

They way I see it after playing the game... if you focus only on PvP you'll get tired of it. If you focus only on PvE you'll get tired of it. If you focus on both on only one character you'll get tired of it. The only fun most people will get out of it is trying each of the class/race combos out for the first 8-10 levels.

Morale abilities are very fun. I think the end game will revolve around coordination and morale abilities on a tactical level and just sheer numbers on the strategic level. Elitists will play whatever side has more numbers for world PvP purposes.

Eve is a game I would so much love to play. But i've just never been able to get started

With all the Goons probably leaving EvE for Warhammer, there's going to be a rift in power. Red may step up, and I believe IAC will be taking part of the old goon territory, but we'll see how it actually work out. I can see BoB reaching in and taking a piece of territory for themselves, but I don't think they'd be stupid enough to try to take alot.

I'm not a fan of BoB, but I do give them credit for being so successful. Destroying MC was no great feat, even if some jackass gave out POS passwords to save his Titan.
