| Member | I thought the opposite. This seems to be a lesser copy of WoW with more emphasis on PvP. The only thing that this has better than WoW is more battlegrounds (RvR scenarios), more group activities which you don't need to spend time forming a party (public quests), and fresh content. But all the neat content needs to have people around doing the same thing at the same time else you can't enjoy it (maybe cool at start, but later on, you're probably going to end up solo questing everything to level due to lack of people around your level). The solo content like quests is dull and requires running all over and the landscape isn't any awe inspiring, but you can't expect much from a war torn land. Their chicken system seems interesting where a high level player entering a low level area gets turned into a chicken... but when everyone becomes max level, I can see a lot of complaining that they can't re-experience older content. Of course, I'm only judging by the first 19 ranks. I played each race/career combo to at least rank 10 since Open Beta started. Compared to 1-30 of WoW, WoW definitely seems more fun. It's not because I suck at WAR, I rock at it, but it's still crap. Here's a shot of me trying to figure out how renown is distributed in a RvR scenario: http://i38.tinypic.com/256aicl.jpg I blame WAR's combat system and character animations for my poor impression. It feels too laggy. Especially when playing a caster and try to cast with something beating on you, you can't really tell when your spell goes off since the animation goes off but there's still a cast bar. Also because of that, you can click on spells before your actual spell goes off and they'll go off right after, but spells with cooldowns have issues and look like they don't go off (or have a cooldown timer) and trying to use them again just gives you an error that you can't use it and have to guess when the cooldown's done. Sometimes if you click flee (sprint) right as it finished cooldown to get somewhere faster, it goes on cooldown and doesn't give you the sprint/flee buff. WoW's combat and animation quality (except for Blood Elves and the Draenai) are top notch. Best controls in any MMO. WAR will face the same issues as WoW, since they're basically the same type of game with differently named features, but WoW has found solutions to most of them. Of course there's always whiners - such as casuals thinking they're way behind the curve since they think the more time you spend the better your char becomes. And then there's the losers who wish they could always win 3/4 in Arena/BGs and proclaim they lose 80% of their game for one reason or another despite stat tracking sites like this showing elsewise: Battlegrounds - WarcraftRealms.com I wish people trying WAR that they find enjoyment out of it. I was truly hoping for it to be a WoW killer. I canceled my pre-order and I'm saving my money. I play WoW much less, mainly because I experienced everything up to Felmyst in Sunwell Plateau. I guess I was looking for something to hold me until WotLK. Edit: I guess my playstyle didn't suit WAR either. People always talk about it being a team game, but I always strive to make my character super pimped out, so I will be awesome with or without a group. It's definitely not balanced 1v1... I tried exploring solo and encountered a Black Orc as a Rune Priest and the fight lasted 5 mins with neither of us coming close to dying until the Black Orc got some help from some wandering Sorc. Also, trying to do PQs - it was hard to contribute with the masses of melee types trampling over anything nearby. Moral of the story is, don't play if you really want to solo.
