I just ordered a 250GB HDD for my Playstation 3 and was wondering what you guys would recommend for linux?

Fedora or Yellow Dog? I am mostly interested in using it for emulators
All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

now could someone recommend a good linux distro for ps3?

were you able to copy your old drive to the new one? i am interested in upgrading, and would really like to get emulations on it. i just dont wanna loose all the stuff i've downloaded and my save games etc...

I used an external HD and backed up my information swapped out the old drive and installed the new one. Went back to system settings where I backed up my stuff then just restored. Your system settings are saved to the ram so don't worry about those

wow those are pretty neat.

i'm still a bit confused how linux works on the ps3, so does it replace the sony os completely or can i go into it somehow. keep me updated on your progress because i'm really interested in doing the same thing

I'm still stuck on which version I want to put on there. You simply go into system settings and choose other OS and it starts Linux. To exit you choose the option in Linux and your back at the XMB

I tried installing it when the ps3 first came out and failed due to impatience. So are you using the HD extender? You'll have to keep us updated I'm pretty interested in this as well.

No Im using a laptop HDD I got on newegg. While searching for stripped hard drive cage screws on the ps3 I got that lol

well i've found a video of a nes emulator running on fedora, and a snes download. thats about it.

have you found any emulators
