I have recently had a problem with my slimline PS2 where if I plug in any 2 controllers at the same time, then start up a game, the menus in the game just autoscroll as if the Down button on the D-pad is being held down. I have now tried it with 3 different controllers in different combinations and whenever I plug in 2 or more (when I plug in a seperate multitap) it just scrolls through the menus until one of the controllers is removed. It's fine when there's just one controller.

Is it time to replace the console or does anyone know an easy way to repair this?

Sounds like the analogue stick is being pushed downwards when you boot up the console. Mine does it all the time. When you turn it on, whatever position the stick is in becomes default centre, so if it's being pushed every which way then it will give you the result you're getting.

Hope I'm right, because it's the only thing I can think of!

interesting, something that had never even occurred to me (I was thinking dusty port or bent pins inside maybe). Thanks, I'll check that when I get chance.
