| Paw? | I haven't played a PC game in about 4 months, if not a little more. I don't have any PC games installed on my computer either. I no longer have the urge to upgrade and/or look at higher end components to get the best experience. PC games aren't what they used to be. First person shooters have become extremely boring. Multiplayer does no justice anymore. It seems that everyone is stressing graphics for next-gen games, when they keep the gameplay the same. I remember a couple months back looking at the UT 2007 (Now, UT 3) gameplay footage. It looked like the exact same game with better graphics. Now, I don't know about you guys but graphics lose the wow factor after 20-30 minutes of playing. A great example is Oblivion. When I first started Oblivion, I was impressed by the detail in the environment and expansive land, but after a hour or so, it lost its WOW and became another hack-n-slash RPG grind. This will be a low-blow too, but majority of PC games no longer have good stories behind them. Cliff: PC Games are boring. We've been fed the same games over and over again and it doesn't appear to be changing. | |

| Raptor Jesus | The "graphics wow factor" when I played Half-Life 2 was never ending.. I absolutely love that game. | |

| Paw? | Half-Life 2 is an exception. I agree, the game is amazing. I've played through it about 3 times and loved it. Then again, that series has a) a good story b) great gameplay (intro to gravity gun) c) realistic cityscape. | |

| Jolly Bolly Fo-Folly | I wonder why you keep emphasizing "PC" gaming. Is it because you still play console games, or just that youve only ever played PC games. I havent played many PC games in the last few months, but thats due to my computer being out of service. I have a macbook so thats what I use for my day to day usage. I can say I dont miss gaming as much, but I definitely like playing games still. | |

| El Chupacabra | I have barely touched my PC games since I bought an Xbox 360. I have always been a console fan, but the 360 changed my perspective hugely. ...especially playing games in Hi-Def on a 57" TV. | |

| Not Just Handsome | I played CS 1.6 a couple of weeks back just for the nostalgia. I had a pretty good video card but I think my power supply is crapping out so I had to switch to a 9200 that doesnt need it's own juice. So even if I wanted to play games, I can't. I used to love my PS1, then liked the PS2, but after that I lost intrest. I began to hate consoles. Then I got my DS for valentines day last year and since then I went back to the Gamecube and got the Wii. I guess I'm just a Nintendo fanboy but I haven't completely ruled out playing some PS2 classics. edit: But for the record, fps's are the best on mouse+keyboard. I can't stand them on consoles. So no Halo or games of that sort for me. Last edited by Cr@cKpiPe tE@sEr noOb! : 03-29-2007 at 06:00 AM. | |
| "As you can see, I've memorized this utterly useless fact long enough to pass a test question. I now intend to forget it forever. You've taught me nothing except how to cynically manipulate the system. Congratulations." | ||

| Keeper of the Timeline | I'm in a similar situation Crackpipe. I haven't played a PC game in a while, except a little Prey (amazing game) My DS purchase is probably the culprit... can't beat the fun factor of nintendo games. And now I have a Wii. It gives me the opportunity to play 4 Nintendo system. And for the record, I don't know if you tried Metroid Prime Hunters Crackpipe, but the controls are REALLY clever. That's the 1st console FPS that was "playable" for me. Now I'm waiting for Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii. The wiimote will probably act as a mouse cursor, so it's finally possible to have a great FPS on a console!!! (fuck that Halo bullcrap) | |

And you don't like Oblivion? Sorry, I think my head just exploded. I could hardly make myself play through HL2 one time. I think I did it so I could have hope for HL3. The graphics didn't do anything for me after playing Doom 3, and the story... ugh. I'm pretty sure I've had this argument before, so I'll just stop. Please accept my criticisms with no offense. I see the words 'Half-Life 2' and 'good' in the same sentence and I lose all rational thought processes. But, hey, most of the internet loves HL2... so what do I know? :P All shit aside, how could HL 2 amaze you graphically compared to Oblivion? I mean, I've put over 100 hours into Oblivion and I still say "Goddamn!" when I'm on a friggin' mountaintop and get surprised by a view of the whole freakin' continent. I can understand you not enjoying Oblivion; it sure ain't for everybody, but the graphics? -AND- Since I'm a college kid now and my 'rig' is over two years old, PC gaming is just out of my price range right now. Thank God for the 360. I'll also agree with you that PC gaming is a little stale. I don't want to play another Battlefield X or Unreal Tournament... or even Counterstrike. It's just all tired. And I'm in love with Gears of War. There's some innovation for you, even if it is a bit glitchy. But, you know what? Consoles are doing the same thing with a few exceptions here and there. I mean, I don't even care about Halo 3 for the multiplayer anymore. It's all been done before, and they'll have to do something awesome for me to get back into a Halo-type FPS. ... and I can't wait to see Metroid Prime 3. Nerdgasm. Okay. I'm done. | Tweak Minion | after the initial shock of how cool oblivion was, i really started to dislike it. the end game content was boring, and i had figured out the lvling system so i had everything maxed at 20, so it just wasn't much fun anymore.

'End game content' in Oblivion consists of killing entire towns, not the quests. You gotta have fun with it, man.

| Gramps | I've been an HL fan right from the first release...when the heck is ep2 coming our way? I take out alot of life's frustration and fill my primal need to hunt with FPS's. HL series, prey, farcry, quake series, sin series....I love them all! part of my attraction is in being part of the evolutionary process. Remember the early daze? The wolfenstien, blood, duke nukem......shit, I even played pong for hours on end at the arcades when i was a midteen (15). Now I see trailers and gameplay footage of Crysis and just about blo-my-wad. I love the industry/tech as much as the actual games. I'm witness to swords turning into plowshares as alot of this technology we enjoy was spawned of military R&D and research dollars. Sheeesh! I still remember when having a B&W tv was concidered hi-tech and a color set was for the rich/well off elite. I guess I just have a longer yardstick to guage the progress of technology, therefore a bigger apreciation of how far we've come. I'm here for the duration!!
