Yeah, so, my recent Final Fantasy binge made me crave further Square-Enix goodness.

I'm driving home one day and realized, "Holy shit, Final Fantasy XI was good!". I go home and proceed to install the old discs that I had. I noticed that there was 2 expansions that I missed in my time off from when I used to play a while back. So I ran to EB and bought those. Really cheap too. Came home, installed them and started a Galkan Warrior in San'Doria.

From the time I stopped playing FFXI way back when up until now, I was playing World of Warcraft. Going back to FFXI made me realize how easy WOW really is. Subtle things like mounts in cities, healing, selling to vendors. FFXI makes me feel like I'm playing an RPG and not just rushing to the level cap. Gameplay aside, the story is actually worth following in this one. I enjoy walking up to random NPCs and reading the story.

Not to mention, the graphics don't look like they were drawn from a 6 year old with a crayon.

<3 Square-Enix

Animal Crossing >>>FFXI

It's science.

When leveling up is paying off your home debt. When battling is catching a bug faster than the other NPC. When finding rare items is digging up a random fossil.

Yeah, I guess it does kick FFXI's ass.

I Am Ahnuld's

Gamercard

I have a buddy who plays FFXI, and a buddy who plays WoW. They're both gaming crack, and should be avoided at all costs.

They destroy lives.

Even when you start-up FFXI, it gives you a little warning not to forget about your work, school, family and friends. How cute...

i didn't like ffxi because you had to rely on a group to level past 20. you also had to have groups to do most of the quests. while it does look very nice, and i value the team dynamic during battle, which is much more entertaining and complex than wow, i feel they just made it a little too difficult for an mmo. and i know, i had a 65 elvaan palidan. it felt like i speant 1/2 my life in the crawler's nest :P

I agree, I remember getting towards Lvl. 17 back in the day and getting stressed to group. I kinda missed it though. The group fighting in FFXI is really interesting with the skillchains also. In WoW, it was just "Grab a group, rush an instance, gather the loot, and do it all over again". That kinda got boring...

Jeez...is the game still that popular? If I had an at-home job or something, I'd play it all day. I just wish it was more solo-able (sp?)
