| | Anarchy Online ... it's Free, but... | permalink #1 |
| Tweak3D Webmaster | Friday I created a free account on the site (anarchy), downloaded the AO client software and installed it. There were two dimensions in the US and one in Germany. None of them worked. It took about 2 minutes each to show the status of the dimensions and both said "Down, Requires Patch". I checked back a day later, same message. I tried to download a patch but the main web site loads a blank page on the latest patches, and the client's "download patch" button fails to load a web site. Plus I had downloaded the client just hours earlier so it should be up to date... I forwarded various ports on my router from the AO beta and final client, but nothing works. Does anyone play this game? Can someone else try downloading the client to see if it works for them? Are there supposed to be more than three "dimensions"? I just wanted to see what the game had to offer but I can't even connect to the server to test it. ![]() | |

| Tweak Minion | I havn't played it since it launched.... I wonder how many people actually play the game. From what I remember it was just a constant quest grind and most of the classes were useless. | |

| Tweak3D Webmaster | I complained to their tech support and they sent an automated reply with a link to this file: ftp://ftp.funcom.com/cd/patches/aorepair.exe Unfortunately the FTP is down right now. Nice job Funcom.=/ Edit: Okay so I found an alternate link for the patches and downloaded both the AOrepair.exe and the newest patch. The newest patch first asks for the path to Anarchy Online and does not even guess where it is (it's in the default location), requiring you to search through Program Files etc. to use it. No biggie, I put this in, and then it failed to find the patch after connecting to the Internet. Then I tried to run Aorepair.exe and it required MFC71.DLL, so I hunted out and downloaded it. Then I ran it again and it asked for the path (same as above).. ugh... so I searched again and found it, and ran the repair. Then I ran AO and of course it still does not work. Now I see I'm running 17.9.1 but the server version is 17.9.2 -- too bad when I ran the 17.9.1 to 17.9.2 update it tells me "Could not find the requested patch on any of the specified path-servers.". What a wonderful product. Edit 2: I installed the "EP1" patch, whatever that is, and now I'm running 17.9.2! However, the exact same problem as originally encountered persists. I give up. | |

| Keeper of the Timeline | Wasn't this game abandonned by the company, server-wise? I'm sure I read news about that a while ago | |

| Tweak3D Webmaster | I don't know, the forums are still alive and there was a patch just a few weeks ago. It probably sucks anyway, so I don't feel like I'm missing out. | |
